Acceptable Use Policy
Effective Date: March 29, 2026 Last Updated: March 29, 2026
1. Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do when using CruiseAlert (cruisealert.com and agents.cruisealert.com). This AUP is incorporated into and must be read alongside our Terms of Service.
We want CruiseAlert to be useful and trustworthy for everyone. That requires some basic ground rules.
2. Permitted Uses
You may use CruiseAlert to:
- Track cruise prices for personal travel research or, for licensed travel agents, on behalf of clients
- Set price alerts for sailings you are genuinely interested in booking
- View price history to understand pricing trends
- Research cruise options — itineraries, ships, departure ports, cabin types
- Connect with travel agents through our matching service (if you opt in as a consumer)
- Manage client alerts if you are a licensed travel agent using agents.cruisealert.com
3. Prohibited Activities
3.1 Automated and Bulk Access
You must not:
- Use bots, crawlers, scrapers, spiders, or any automated tool to access or extract data from the Service
- Send automated requests at a rate that exceeds what a single human user could reasonably generate
- Systematically download or reproduce our compiled cruise pricing data
- Use the Service's data to train machine learning or AI models without our express written consent
Why this matters: We spend significant resources compiling and maintaining this data. Automated extraction undermines the Service's sustainability and may interfere with its operation.
3.2 Account and Identity Abuse
You must not:
- Create more than one account per individual
- Create an account on behalf of another person without their knowledge and consent
- Impersonate CruiseAlert, another user, a travel agent, a cruise line, or any other person or entity
- Use false, misleading, or fraudulent information when creating or maintaining an account
- Share your account credentials with others
3.3 System Interference and Security Attacks
You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other user accounts, or our infrastructure
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without our prior written authorization
- Introduce malware, ransomware, viruses, worms, trojan horses, or any malicious code
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or crash the Service (including DDoS attacks)
- Bypass or circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or authentication mechanisms
- Intercept or attempt to intercept communications to or from the Service
3.4 Harmful and Illegal Activities
You must not use the Service:
- For any purpose that violates applicable local, national, or international law
- To harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate any person
- To transmit unsolicited commercial communications (spam)
- In connection with fraud, money laundering, or other financial crimes
- To circumvent geographic restrictions (e.g., embargo compliance)
3.5 Commercial Misuse of Data
You must not:
- Resell, license, or redistribute CruiseAlert price data without our express written authorization
- Build a competing price tracking or alert service using data derived from CruiseAlert
- Use our data in commercial products or services without a separate written agreement
- Aggregate or republish our data in ways that compete with or substitute for the Service
3.6 Travel Agent-Specific Prohibitions
Travel agents using agents.cruisealert.com must not:
- Use consumer data received through our matching service for any purpose other than assisting that specific consumer with their cruise inquiry
- Contact consumers through channels not disclosed to them
- Share consumer leads received through CruiseAlert with other agents or third parties
- Use the platform to conduct activities that violate travel agency regulations or licensing requirements
4. Account Responsibilities
4.1 Your Responsibility
You are responsible for all activity under your account, whether you authorized it or not. If someone else accesses your account (e.g., because you shared your password), that is your responsibility.
4.2 Keeping Information Accurate
You must keep your account information — particularly your email address — accurate and up to date. We use your email to send price alerts and important account notifications.
4.3 Reporting Abuse
If you become aware of any abuse of the Service or suspect a security vulnerability, please report it to:
- Abuse: legal@cruisealert.com
- Security: legal@cruisealert.com
5. Enforcement
5.1 Our Rights
If we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated this AUP or our Terms of Service, we may:
- Issue a warning (for minor or first-time violations)
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently terminate your account without notice
- Remove or disable access to content or features
- Report violations to law enforcement where appropriate
- Pursue legal remedies
5.2 No Obligation to Monitor
We are not obligated to monitor all use of the Service, but we reserve the right to do so. We may investigate any reported or suspected violation.
5.3 Appeals
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, contact us at legal@cruisealert.com with a description of the situation. We will review your appeal and respond within 10 business days.
